Kia Ora Room 14 students,
Welcome to Week 2 of Term 2 & welcome to your blog. I really enjoyed teaching you last week and am most excited about this week, which is going to be busy but fun! I'm already looking forward to reading your posts on Monday evening, after our time in the Media Suite. :-)
Here's the information about my homework expectations that I promised you last Friday. First of all, your homework should take less than 1/2 hr each night, Monday - Thursday. Your parents / caregivers need to sign your diary each night so I know that you have completed your homework.
If you haven't got access to a computer then talk with me and I will arrange for you do have some time each day to do the online component. (Who can comment and tell me what 'component' means? Remember we discussed it on Thursday during writing time.)
This term for Maths we are focusing on knowing our times-tables so each week you will practice your basic facts using the times table chart & Study Ladder.
Spelling - each Friday, a buddy will test & mark your spelling words. If you get any wrong, then you learn those plus 10 other words on the spelling lists.
You need to read each night and so I will list a couple of different instructions. You will always get to choose your own story at least once a week. You don't have to read aloud but sometimes parents / caregivers enjoy hearing their kids read to them.
You will see that I have included Art as homework - this work comes from your specialist class and once its finished, you won't need to do anymore that week.
Occasionally, you might have to take home some work that you haven't finished during class time but this should be a rare occurrence.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday - if you haven't finished all your work during classtime then you may have to take it home to catch up. I hope you won't need to do this. :-) It would be great if you could read during the weekend but I totally understand if you are very busy with sports etc.
Now you know what is expected of you for homework, go and read Week 2's Homework.
Miss K.
